Clariant seeks a Senior Specialist for Regulatory Affairs Biodiversity EAME to manage compliance with biodiversity regulations like the Nagoya Protocol and EUDR. The role is based in France with hybrid work options.
This position focuses on ensuring that sourcing and project activities adhere to strict biodiversity due diligence regulations, including the Nagoya Protocol and the EU Deforestation Regulation. The specialist will lead the development and implementation of control systems, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and mitigate risks associated with ethical sourcing and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Guarantee adherence to biodiversity due diligence laws, specifically the Nagoya Protocol, ABS regulations, and the EU Deforestation Regulation.
- Create and strengthen unified control and due diligence frameworks across LMC entities within Clariant.
- Design policy concepts and systems for due diligence.
- Evaluate projects and sourcing activities for legal, reputational, and commercial risks regarding regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with R&D, sustainability, and purchasing teams to oversee both new and existing supply chains.
- Formulate risk mitigation and security plans in partnership with relevant teams.
- Establish and roll out guidelines, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Align ABS compliance efforts with internal departments (R&D, purchasing, sustainability, legal) and external parties such as authorities and suppliers.
- Address customer inquiries related to these regulatory topics.
- Lead internal working groups focused on ABS and EUDR.
- Act as the LMC representative in external working groups concerning these issues.
- Take part in events dedicated to ethical sourcing and due diligence practices.
Requirements
- Possess between 3 and 5 years of professional experience.
- Hold a Master’s degree, engineering diploma, or PhD in science, regulatory affairs, or sustainability.
- Demonstrate the capacity to engage multiple stakeholders to achieve compliance goals.
- Show proficiency in applying complex national legislation.
- Exhibit skills in coordinating international projects and adapting to diverse global contexts.
- Display agility and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Possess project management capabilities.
- Achieve C1 proficiency in both English and French.
