The company seeks a Senior Tax Manager for the EUCAN region based in Zürich, handling tax audits, compliance, and advising clients on European tax positions.
This position operates within the Global Tax / EUCAN Tax group. The professional advises and manages client tax positions across selected European countries. The role acts as a trusted partner and key bridge between global tax functional leads and the finance Business Solutions Hub.
Responsibilities
- Proactively lead tax audits at federal, regional, and local levels.
- Supervise tax matters including accounting, compliance, litigation, and transfer pricing.
- Advise local finance and educate business partners on tax legislation changes.
- Build a business network in scope countries and analyze tax implications for transactions.
- Maintain professional and transparent communication with tax authorities.
- Coordinate corporate income tax compliance and audit defense with clients and local service providers.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate tax risks proactively.
- Lead tax audits, align on data requests, and liaise with global tax leads on defense strategy.
- Streamline and monitor indirect tax, withholding taxes, and other tax procedures.
- Monitor legislative changes in the region with material business impact.
- Coordinate transfer pricing adjustments and documentation.
- Review contracts and business initiatives from a tax perspective.
Requirements
- University Degree in accounting, finance, or law, preferably with a specialization in Taxation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a tax position within the Pharma industry or Big 4 industries.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and fiscal framework in the region.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting for income taxes.
- Fluent in English and German.
- Strong tax research and presentation skills.
- Strong tax technical expertise.
- Ability to analyze complex matters and present options for decision making.
- Ability to communicate effectively and influence without authority across finance, business, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to make well-founded decisions regarding tax compliance, tax audit, and tax litigation.
- Strong system knowledge from the client.
Nice to have
- CPA and/or certification as tax specialist (in line with regional industry standards).
- Relevant experience within the client or the global life science industry.
- Interest in Tax Technology.
- Experience with the concept of Shared Services.
- Public accounting experience.
