Pfadibewegung Schweiz seeks a volunteer Sustainability Lead to develop and implement a cross-divisional sustainability concept for a major international scouting event.
This transversal position supports the planning and execution of a large-scale international scouting gathering for roughly 5,000 participants and 1,000 volunteers. The role requires close collaboration across all divisions to embed sustainability into the event's core operations.
Responsibilities
Adopt and enforce the sustainability charter aligned with WOSM guidelines.
Establish, manage, and direct an on-site Green Team.
Define, track, and evaluate ecological, social, and economic sustainability KPIs.
Create and coordinate coaching and onboarding sessions focused on sustainability practices.
Draft the Sustainability Commitment document as mandated by WOSM.
Submit the commitment to the World Scout Bureau for validation.
Monitor and report on the commitment's progress throughout the project lifecycle.
Compile insights and produce an internal sustainability report following the camp.
Design and integrate a sustainability workshop into the main camp program.
Requirements
Availability and motivation for a multi-year commitment.
Systemic thinking and ability to work transversally across departments.
Skill in defining, measuring, and monitoring concrete sustainability KPIs.
Strong communication skills for explaining sustainability topics and delivering training.
Capacity to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency in English and at least one Swiss national language (French, German, or Italian).
Nice to have
Experience in sustainability fields such as CSR, ESG, or sustainable events.
Familiarity with frameworks like WOSM, SDGs, double materiality, or ESG standards.
Background in team leadership and community engagement.
