Transcend PMO Senior Operations Manager

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Operations Manager to lead PMO functions for the global Transcend program, standardizing operations and consolidating ERP systems for its Innovative Medicine division.

This position provides critical leadership for the Transcend initiative, a major global transformation effort aimed at unifying seven ERP systems into a single S/4 HANA platform for the Innovative Medicine business. The manager oversees daily PMO activities across complex Commercial and Manufacturing deployment programs, ensuring governance, planning, and execution align with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee PMO activities throughout all program phases by establishing robust governance structures, facilitating clear communication channels, and preparing high-quality materials for decision-making forums.
• Coordinate integrated planning for multiple sophisticated releases, managing RAID logs and change control procedures to proactively resolve issues and maintain focused execution.
• Manage schedule accuracy by tracking progress against the master program plan using data-driven metrics.
• Control scope by evaluating, documenting, and aligning all changes with program goals and stakeholder expectations.
• Provide transparent, consistent status reports at various governance levels, offering actionable insights to support leadership decisions.
• Promote predictive delivery methods to spot risks and opportunities early, allowing for timely interventions and course corrections.
• Ensure all PMO operations meet compliance and quality standards, fostering a risk management culture focused on identification, mitigation, and follow-through.
• Lead and develop a diverse team, including Deployment Leads and offshore resources, to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
• Coach and mentor team members to build capabilities, foster accountability, and encourage a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
• Collaborate with Global Program Managers and PMO leadership to align priorities, integrate delivery plans, and strengthen cross-team communication.
• Act as the primary escalation point for PMO-related issues, coordinating resolutions with leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data and insights to refine processes, tools, and team capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least eight years of professional experience.
• Seven or more years in program or project management, including PMO roles within large, complex global transformation initiatives, preferably involving ERP implementations.
• Proven success leading PMO operations teams, including managing cross-functional and geographically dispersed resources.
• Deep expertise in delivery governance, RAID management, schedule and scope control, status reporting, and risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to drive data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement within PMO functions.
• Experience providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to teams in a matrixed environment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across project teams and business functions.
• Strong business insight and understanding of compliance, quality standards, and change management principles.
• Proficiency with project management tools and software, and familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling multiple priorities and sophisticated dependencies.
• Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
