Translational Medicine, Strategic Feasibility Expert-Associate Director

Novartis seeks a Senior Translational Medicine, Strategic Feasibility Expert-Associate Director in Basel to lead clinical feasibility strategy and site selection for biomedical research and patient trials.

This position is responsible for defining the clinical feasibility strategy across biomedical research therapeutic areas and patient trials. The expert acts as the primary liaison to ensure that study schedules and enrollment plans accurately reflect the indication footprint and site landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the strategic selection of countries and clinical sites for specific therapeutic areas and individual trials.
  • Delivers early feasibility insights for therapeutic areas, indications, or studies by leveraging databases, tools, and historical data.
  • Oversees site identification within the Clinical Trial Team and proactively addresses potential obstacles or delays.
  • Aggregates feasibility assessments and site recommendations to support Clinical Trial Team decisions.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to discover new investigators and clinical sites.
  • Monitors site performance metrics, including recruitment rates.
  • Cultivates and sustains connections with pivotal investigators, sites, and networks.
  • Partners with the Clinical Trial Team during protocol development to inform the operational study plan.
  • Coordinates with the Clinical Finance Manager on initial strategic planning, site budgets, timelines, and TTG impact.
  • Engages with global stakeholders, including Therapeutic Area Heads, Clinical Scientists, and Global Clinical Operations.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO drug development settings.
  • Strong grasp of the drug development lifecycle, with a preference for early clinical development expertise.
  • Deep understanding of clinical trial site selection, global and country-specific regulations, timelines, and execution challenges.
  • Proven capability to thrive in a global matrix environment and foster constructive relationships.
  • Autonomous decision-making with a clear sense of accountability.

  • Exceptional organizational abilities, including adaptability to shifting priorities and unexpected changes while maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: 122,500.00 – 227,500.00 CHF Annual.
