AI Scientist

Proxima Group AG seeks a Senior AI Scientist in Zürich to lead the development of advanced deep learning pipelines for proximity-inducing molecule design in drug discovery.

Proxima Group AG is pioneering an AI-driven approach to drug discovery by making protein interactions programmable. This senior role focuses on building the world's most advanced pipeline for designing proximity-inducing molecules. The position is highly interdisciplinary and research-intensive, tackling complex, unsolved scientific challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scientific direction for designing and training large-scale, cutting-edge deep learning systems.
• Create new architectures and training methods to address challenging scientific problems and set industry standards.
• Work closely with domain experts in chemistry, physics, and biology to develop innovative feature engineering and cross-disciplinary strategies.
• Publish research in top-tier ML conferences and journals, and participate in core ML events to maintain engagement with the latest community trends.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Proven history of contributing to novel deep learning methods, either through industry work or academic publications.
• At least four years of machine learning research experience in industry or academia, with strong proficiency in PyTorch.
• Capability to grasp business challenges and construct models that deliver rapid value, while aligning research priorities accordingly.

Nice to have

• Strong grasp of core machine learning fundamentals.
• Extensive background in natural language processing or computer vision.
• Hands-on experience designing and tuning models from the ground up.
• Experience working with large models and scaling them.
• Familiarity with generative models for molecules or proteins.
