Junior full-time Analyst – QC Microbiology role in Neuchâtel, CH, requiring microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and compliance with GDP, GMP, and 5S principles. On-site position with fluency in French and professional English required.

The Analyst – QC Microbiology supports the Microbiology team within the Quality Control department at the BMS Boudry Site. The role involves conducting and reviewing microbiological tests on raw materials, drug products, and stability samples, performing environmental monitoring in cleanrooms, waters, and compressed gases, and ensuring all activities comply with laboratory procedures, safety rules (EHS), and good documentation and manufacturing practices (GDP and GMP).

Responsibilities

  • Carry out microbiological testing on raw materials and drug products according to incoming, release, and stability specifications, as well as manufacturing monitoring samples.
  • Perform microbiological validation tasks, including execution of validation protocols.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring in cleanrooms (microbiological and particle testing), compressed air, and waters (microbiological tests, TOC, conductivity, nitrates).
  • Review raw analytical data generated in the Microbiology Laboratory.
  • Release culture media (via growth promotion testing) and other materials used in the lab.
  • Identify microorganisms isolated during testing.
  • Support various QC Microbiology activities as needed.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration, and manage relationships with suppliers.
  • Provide P1 training to other Quality Control staff or departments.
  • Perform general lab duties including sample management, waste disposal, cleaning, and other routine tasks.
  • Manage supply of consumables, including preparing purchase requisitions.
  • Create and update procedures, work instructions, and other QC documentation.
  • Print worksheets as assigned by the manager or delegate.
  • Participate in projects and implement continuous improvement initiatives in the lab.
  • Attend and present at team meetings.
  • Adhere to 5S principles and suggest improvements.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by lab management.
  • Promote safe work practices and behaviors.
  • Report incidents immediately to the Environmental Health and Safety department, participate in investigations, and help prevent future accidents while demonstrating Bristol Myers Squibb values.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge or experience in environmental, water, and gas monitoring.
  • Understanding of good microbiological practices and contamination control.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for microbiological testing and environmental monitoring.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while focusing on priorities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently for long periods and also collaboratively in a team.
  • Good knowledge of laboratory safety rules.
  • Proficiency in writing business and technical documents (strong technical writing skills).
  • Capability for independent problem-solving and timely communication with management.
  • Advanced computer skills (Windows and MS Office) and experience using a LIMS system.
  • Fluency in French and professional command of English (both spoken and written).
  • Effective communication with peers, including QC staff, management, and other departments.
  • Knowledge of LEAN and 5S concepts and methodologies.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and environments.
