Application Engineering Chapter Leader

ABB seeks an Application Engineering Chapter Leader to drive expertise in Critical Power solutions. This global management role focuses on technical leadership, team development, and cross-functional collaboration.

The company is looking for a leader to advance application expertise for its Critical Power business within the Electrification Smart Power division. Reporting to the Agile Unit Leader Solutions, this global position aims to build robust solution architectures and market insights. Preferred hiring locations include Quartino in Switzerland, Heidelberg in Germany, and Bergamo in Italy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on the core mission of the Application Engineering Chapter.
• Coach team members and act as a subject matter expert to enhance their skills.
• Organize alignment meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing events.
• Cultivate deep expertise in applications, solution architectures, and customer value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio.
• Create and maintain standards, methods, tools, and best practices for application engineering.
• Manage application knowledge, key use cases, reference architectures, and reusable solution frameworks.
• Foster continuous learning regarding customer needs, market trends, and competitive positioning.
• Equip the team to identify and communicate market insights and application trends across the organization.
• Promote collaboration and knowledge exchange with Sales, Product Management, R&D, and other Agile Units.
• Oversee recruitment, staffing, performance management, and career development for chapter members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in Critical Power, UPS, Energy Storage, Power Conversion, or similar applications.
• Deep understanding of applications, solution architectures, market segments, and channel dynamics.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into differentiated solutions aligned with business strategy.
• Experience supporting Sales through technical consulting, customer engagement, and channel enablement.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.
• Experience defining standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices in a technical environment.
• Strong ability to influence complex stakeholder networks, including EPCs, consultants, end customers, and internal teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills to articulate value-driven solutions.
