ABB seeks a Senior Technical Support Engineer in Untersiggenthal, CH, for its Energy Industries division. The role involves managing product lifecycles, supporting global teams, and ensuring technical excellence for power generation products like UNITROL, MEGATROL, and SYNCHROTACT.

This position is part of ABB’s Energy Industries division, based in eastern Europe with potential global involvement. It supports applied solutions for electrical power generation by collaborating with international teams and reporting to the Head of Product Support. The role focuses on product lifecycle activities to aid in the development, launch, maintenance, and profitability of key products.

Responsibilities

• Lead product lifecycle management and continuous improvement by conducting feasibility studies and overseeing global product changes, including hardware, software, BOM, tools, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Product Management and R&D to optimize costs, standardize processes, and enhance products continuously.
• Ensure product quality and technical excellence by diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across a broad product range.
• Interact directly with customers, perform remote diagnostics, lead root cause analysis, and implement lasting corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
• Serve as a global technical expert, providing support and guidance to ABB teams and business partners worldwide.
• Assist with project-specific adaptations, review engineered solutions, and support standardization decisions aligned with long-term product goals.
• Promote knowledge sharing by documenting insights from support cases and creating structured technical resources.
• Mentor support specialists and help build global expertise in lifecycle support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in field service or engineering, with expertise in Power Generation Systems, Embedded Software, Control Hardware, and Power Electronics.
• Required experience with excitation systems.
• Fluency in English.
• Strong drive for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High sense of responsibility and commitment to results.
• Strong intercultural awareness and ability to work in diverse teams.

Nice to have

• Additional language skills such as German, French, or Spanish are beneficial.
