Technical Service Specialist - Gearless Mill Drive (80-100%)

ABB seeks a Technical Service Specialist for Gearless Mill Drives in Baden, CH. This mid-level hybrid role focuses on technical support, customer relationship management, and service delivery within the Mining & Materials business line.

Operating within the Mining & Materials business line, this position serves as a global specialist for the Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) product. The role reports to the Service Engineering Manager and acts as a key liaison between customers, internal service sales teams, and various engineering disciplines to drive service growth and ensure high-quality technical delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver service portfolio items in strict accordance with ABB’s standard processes and safety protocols to guarantee customer satisfaction.
• Serve as the primary technical expert, resolving complex issues within the assigned domain of expertise.
• Engage proactively with clients and internal lifecycle management teams to identify needs and uncover opportunities for expanding service revenue.
• Offer technical assistance through remote or on-site interventions, covering installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, back-office engineering, consulting, and retrofit projects.
• Manage customer relationships through professional consulting and provide 24/7 support coverage for one week approximately every two months.
• Propose product and quality enhancements to internal stakeholders to foster continuous improvement.
• Advise management and clients on technical service solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience as an electrical engineer, product specialist, or in a comparable technical capacity, ideally within power electronics.
• Fluent command of English.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities that facilitate effective collaboration across departments and with external clients.
• A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on building lasting professional relationships.
• Meticulous attention to detail to ensure product conformity, precise technical documentation, and compliance with quality standards.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in additional languages, such as Spanish, is considered an advantage.
