ABB seeks a Field Service Technician for the Midlands/Bern region in Baden, CH. The role involves on-site service work, customer support, and technical troubleshooting, requiring technical qualifications, field experience, and fluency in German with basic English. Work is primarily onsite with travel and on-call duties expected.
This position is part of ABB’s Electrification, Smart Power division in Baden and reports to the Service Team Leader. It focuses on delivering high-quality service by executing assignments according to customer needs and internal quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers on-site to find ways to improve systems and solve current technical problems
- Carry out field service tasks, diagnose technical issues, and perform on-site or remote analysis within certified product areas
- Create material lists for service jobs and verify that all needed parts, tools, and equipment are ready and in good condition
- Deliver training to other field service staff and customers as needed
Requirements
- Completed apprenticeship as an automation technician, electrician, electrical installer, or equivalent technical training
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in automation, electrical engineering, or a related technical area
- Strong understanding of electromechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and field-service practices in industrial settings
- Customer-focused mindset, ability to adapt to changing demands, and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Fluent German and basic English proficiency for professional communication with clients
- Willingness to travel, take part in on-call shifts, and occasionally work weekends; primary service area is the Mittelland / Bern region
- Valid Swiss driver’s license required for assignments within Switzerland
