CFO (Chief Financial Officer) - SME

Essence Investment Ag seeks a Chief Financial Officer for its SME in Breitenbach, Switzerland. The role involves overseeing financial reporting, tax compliance, and leading a small finance team, with a focus on Swiss GAAP and regulatory standards.

The Chief Financial Officer at Essence Investment Ag is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity and statutory compliance of the Swiss entity. This is a hands-on leadership role managing a small finance team, with a strong emphasis on Swiss accounting standards, local taxation, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee statutory accounting and financial reporting in compliance with Swiss GAAP and relevant regulations.
• Manage Swiss tax obligations including corporate income tax, capital tax, VAT, and withholding tax, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
• Lead and develop a small finance team of 1–2 members, providing guidance, workload oversight, and professional growth support.
• Maintain relationships with Swiss tax authorities, auditors, notaries, banks, and other regulatory bodies.
• Manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end closing processes for the Swiss entity.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures aligned with group standards.
• Support Swiss-specific corporate actions such as regulatory filings, entity transactions, and restructuring efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of finance or accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a mid-level to senior finance role.
• Full proficiency in English and German, both written and spoken.
• Experience managing or mentoring small finance teams, with a readiness to contribute individually.
• Confirmed right to work and reside in Switzerland.

Nice to have

• Experience in SMEs or start-up environments is highly beneficial.
• Professional accounting credentials such as Swiss Certified Accountant and Tax Expert, Swiss Federal Diploma in Accounting and Finance, or international equivalents (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) are advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of Odoo software is a plus.
