Roche seeks a Principal Clinical Pharmacology Lead in Basel to drive quantitative and clinical pharmacology across global drug development programs.
This position sits within Roche's Pharmaceutical Sciences organisation and supports multiple disease areas through global, cross-functional teams. The role focuses on advancing clinical programs by applying quantitative methods to guide drug development decisions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary expert for quantitative and clinical pharmacology, steering scientific progress across clinical programs.
- Oversee all clinical pharmacology activities throughout every stage of drug development.
- Help shape clinical development strategies and contribute to clinical trial design.
- Create predictive models based on clinical pharmacology principles to inform dose selection, manage drug interactions, plan special population studies, and support pediatric and ethnic bridging.
- Use pharmacometric techniques for trial simulations, exposure-response analysis, and establishing quantitative criteria for go/no-go choices.
- Author clinical pharmacology sections of key regulatory submissions.
- Act as a subject matter expert during meetings with health authorities.
- Provide pharmacology expertise during in-licensing and out-licensing due diligence.
- Integrate AI and machine learning methods into routine quantitative workflows.
- Collaborate effectively within a global matrix structure while promoting a culture of challenger safety.
- Mentor and guide junior team members.
Requirements
- PhD, Pharm.D., or MD with a focus on Pharmacometrics, Clinical Pharmacology, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in quantitative clinical pharmacology within pharma or biotech.
- Deep knowledge of drug discovery, clinical development, biology, and disease areas.
- Demonstrated success applying Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) principles.
- Strong grasp of clinical pharmacology and quantitative drug development fundamentals.
- Proficiency with pharmacometric tools like NONMEM, R, or Simcyp.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex data into strategic insights for leadership.
- Strategic mindset, adaptability in matrix environments, and strong resilience.
