Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Support & Operations

The company seeks a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for Support & Operations in Zürich. The role focuses on maintaining cloud services, automating processes, and supporting R&D teams while growing into infrastructure engineering.

This position is designed for a professional aiming to transition from pure support into infrastructure engineering. The successful candidate will take ownership of operational tasks, contribute to team development, and help shape the team's direction while ensuring cloud services remain reliable and efficient.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure services, acting as the primary contact for incidents.
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Transition operational duties from current teams by creating runbooks and automating workflows for long-term sustainability.
• Assist R&D groups with infrastructure inquiries, onboarding procedures, and technical troubleshooting.
• Enhance operational workflows by spotting recurring problems, automating repetitive tasks, and minimizing manual effort.
• Develop and refine the service catalog, address service gaps, and automate routine processes.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on expertise with Linux operating systems and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Solid practical experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools, particularly Terraform.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
• Understanding of core networking concepts, including DNS, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with additional cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Background in managing on-premises infrastructure.
• Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible.
• Familiarity with the Nix package manager and build processes.
• Experience with certificate management or Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
• Proficiency in monitoring and observability solutions like Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor.
• Exposure to IoT environments.
• Understanding of Scrum or agile delivery methodologies.
