Switch seeks a Network & Security Engineer to design, operate, and secure internal and cloud infrastructure. This mid-level role supports technical teams across Zurich and Lausanne in a collaborative hybrid environment.
As part of the newly formed Internal Tenant Management team, this position focuses on maintaining the stability and security of network infrastructure while supporting internal technical groups. The role operates within a growth phase, requiring close collaboration across Zurich and Lausanne with English as the primary working language.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain network infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Operate and manage core network services including DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
- Implement and manage firewall, VPN, and remote access solutions.
- Monitor network infrastructure to ensure high availability and resilience.
- Participate in security incident coordination, analysis, and remediation.
- Enhance security infrastructure components such as proxies, WAF, and firewalls.
- Support continuous improvement of security posture and preventive controls.
- Develop and maintain internal core and office network environments.
- Provide support for additional infrastructure domains like email services.
Requirements
- Completed IT apprenticeship or degree in system or network engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network and security engineering.
- Strong expertise in firewall and VPN technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, Arista, OpenStack, or OpenVPN.
- Deep understanding of IP networking concepts including TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, and IPv6.
- Experience operating Linux-based systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging systems.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Background in agile work environments.
- Knowledge of automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- French language skills.
- German language skills.
