Construction Manager (6972)

Senior Construction Manager role in Basel, CH, for client-owned works in the life sciences sector. Requires 10+ years’ experience in industrial and pharmaceutical construction, including cleanroom projects up to GMP grade C (ISO 8), and expertise in BIM (Navis Works 3D), Primavera P6, and project scheduling.

This role oversees the coordination and execution of client-owned construction works, ensuring alignment with project goals for cost, schedule, quality, and safety. The Construction Manager leads external teams, manages material and equipment flows, and collaborates with the assigned EPCM company to maintain site organization and structural compliance with planning and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage service providers, suppliers, work steps, and material flows throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee client-owned construction works and maintain coordination with the assigned EPCM company.
• Lead external planning and construction teams that fall outside the EPCM scope.
• Ensure efficient construction workflow, site organization, and site facilities in collaboration with the EPCM team.
• Verify structural execution matches planning specifications and complies with relevant regulations and building standards.
• Collaborate with other Construction Managers to assess impacts on ongoing projects.
• Engage in technical and commercial discussions with the client’s suppliers and Procurement team.
• Coordinate equipment logistics with suppliers, EPCM, and external Logistics to confirm sizing, crate setup, and entry methods before installation.
• Ensure project goals for cost, deadlines, quality, and safety are met.
• Conduct regular quality inspections of mechanical pipework, supports, cable trays, and ductworks against approved 3D models and client standards, and resolve issues with the EPCM company.
• Identify safety concerns, implement corrective actions, close out findings, and communicate results to all contractors.

Requirements

• Must hold a Swiss/EU citizenship or valid working/residency permit.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar construction management role.
• Proven experience managing large-scale industrial construction projects.
• Experience in pharmaceutical construction, including cleanroom projects up to GMP grade C (ISO 8).
• Familiarity with Navis Works 3D BIM software.
• Experience with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Understanding of clean and black utility requirements in the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong structured thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Fluent English is required.
