This role involves leading strategic pharmaceutical CAPEX and engineering projects within a major international manufacturing site in Basel, Switzerland — one of Europe’s key life sciences hubs. It is designed for experienced professionals who can manage complex, regulated projects with strong technical, operational, and stakeholder coordination skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily project execution across engineering, procurement, and construction phases
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors, and client representatives
- Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-schedule delivery
- Assist in budget oversight, cost control, and managing project changes
- Manage contractor activities and on-site project operations
- Lead project meetings and report progress to stakeholders
- Maintain project documentation, reporting, and governance standards
- Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, and site-specific regulations
- Support technical reviews, constructability assessments, and feasibility studies
- Coordinate solutions for technical and operational project challenges
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in project management within pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated industrial settings
- Proven experience managing CAPEX, construction, or engineering projects
- Solid understanding of GMP/cGMP standards
- Engineering background or degree in a relevant technical field
- Experience managing contractors, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Fluent English communication (required)
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, international project environments
Nice to have
- Candidates with 10+ years of experience are especially sought after
- Prior experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated industries is preferred
- Professionals transitioning from senior process engineering roles to project management are encouraged to apply
