Data Engineer

EFG International seeks a Senior Data Engineer in Geneva to design and maintain ETL pipelines using Qlik Talend within a modernizing data operations team.

This position sits within the IT Data Department’s Data Ops Services team, which supports global systems across the entire organization. The team is expanding its capabilities by adding a specialist focused on enterprise-grade ETL and ESB integrations, contributing to a framework that is evolving toward microservices, API gateways, and Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and sustain batch and near real-time data pipelines using Qlik Talend.
• Develop and manage ESB-style integrations connecting core banking systems, data platforms, and downstream applications.
• Manage operational aspects of Talend, including change control, data quality assurance, SLA tracking, and maintaining standard operating procedures.
• Oversee critical data pipeline performance, conducting incident analysis and root cause identification to ensure stability.
• Utilize CI/CD methodologies to automate deployments and streamline configuration updates.
• Apply observability frameworks to implement controls that guarantee service continuity and data accuracy.
• Produce and update documentation and operational guides for data integration processes.
• Partner with cross-functional groups to define integration patterns and enhance data flow governance.
• Drive the standardization and industrialization of integration methodologies.
• Keep abreast of emerging trends in data engineering, ETL/ESB technologies, and cloud integration platforms.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in data engineering and integration.
• Proven expertise with Qlik Talend for ETL and ESB solutions in on-premise environments.
• Strong capabilities in ETL processes and data modeling.
• Proficiency in SQL, with experience using relational databases or cloud data platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools within hybrid infrastructure settings.
• Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Understanding of ESB concepts, API-based integrations, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with tools or frameworks for data quality, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Ability to communicate in French.
