Senior Data Engineer

Zühlke Group seeks a Senior Data Engineer in Schlieren, CH, to design and maintain data pipelines, collaborate with clients on tailored solutions, and support data-driven decision-making in a hybrid work model.

This position focuses on building and managing robust data architectures that transform raw information into actionable business insights. The engineer will partner directly with clients to grasp their specific data challenges and deliver customized, scalable solutions that align with their operational goals.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients in leveraging Big Data to prepare their information for business and operational use.
• Retrieve and process information from various sources in a reliable and repeatable manner.
• Build, evaluate, and oversee distributed data processing workflows.
• Collaborate with data scientists to develop machine learning models.
• Estimate performance and costs for different data use cases.
• Create clear dashboards to visualize processed data effectively.

Requirements

• Strong familiarity with Big Data technologies, highly scalable databases, cloud environments, and distributed algorithms.
• A passion for sustainable software development and several years of experience in technical positions.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Solid understanding of large public cloud platforms.
• A university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Fluency in both German and English.

Nice to have

• Practical experience or a strong interest in tools like Hadoop, Apache Spark, Hive, Airflow, RDBMS, NoSQL, DevOps, Kubernetes, Java, or .NET.
• Experience working with cloud resources from Amazon AWS, MS Azure, or Google’s GCP.
