EHS Process Safety Manager

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior EHS Process Safety Manager in Schaffhausen to lead process safety programs, risk analyses, and audits within its pharmaceutical division.

This position sits within the Environmental Health & Safety department of the pharmaceutical division at Cilag AG. The company operates as an international development and production entity with over 1,600 employees at the Schaffhausen site. The role focuses on ensuring robust process safety management and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and oversee process safety management initiatives aligned with Swiss occupational safety regulations (EKAS Directive) and internal Johnson & Johnson standards.
• Oversee programs addressing Oxygen Depleting Hazards (ODH) and manage the inventory of pressurized systems alongside associated risk assessments.
• Act as the subject matter expert for Process Safety Management (PSM) within the API PSM cluster and for EHS matters within the API/SM business unit at the Schaffhausen location.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies, such as SUVA, on risk-related inquiries and compliance.
• Draft, apply, and revise training materials and risk management documentation to meet legal and corporate requirements.
• Lead or coordinate risk analysis sessions, including HAZOP, PHA, and DHA, for process and plant equipment, and define necessary mitigation measures.
• Conduct EHS audits as part of the global Johnson & Johnson audit framework and serve as a lead auditor within specialist teams.
• Hold ownership of the Safety Systems (IOSS) Program for Process Safety Management.
• Chair the site PSM Core Team and monitor the advancement of the PSM Excellence program.
• Organize, perform, and follow up on various EHS assessments, audits, and site visits.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering combined with specialized training in occupational health and safety.
• Between 5 and 10 years of professional experience in Process Safety Management.
• Demonstrated adherence to GMP, EHS, and SOX guidelines.
• Proficiency in SAP and MS-Office applications.
• Fluency in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
