Sr Project Manager

Johnson & Johnson in Schaffhausen seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale capital projects. The role requires engineering leadership, regulatory compliance oversight, and multi-functional coordination.

This position acts as the primary technical leader for major capital initiatives within the company. The individual will guide projects from initial planning through commissioning while ensuring strict adherence to internal standards and external regulations. The role involves close collaboration with internal departments such as Quality, EHS, and Operations, alongside external architectural and construction management partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete lifecycle of major capital projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Align multi-disciplinary engineering strategies with project schedules, budgets, quality targets, and regulatory mandates.
• Serve as the lead technical authority by reviewing and approving engineering design modifications and technical submissions.
• Verify that all engineering solutions comply with Johnson & Johnson standards, industry codes, and regulatory expectations.
• Manage multi-million-dollar capital budgets, track expenditures, and assist in procurement processes and contractor evaluations.
• Contribute to contractor bid reviews and support value-engineering decisions.
• Develop and integrate project schedules, identify critical path items, and drive mitigation strategies.
• Maintain a proactive risk register, recommend mitigations, and track performance metrics.
• Provide senior owner-side engineering oversight during construction and commissioning; ensure contractor performance aligns with design intent and Johnson & Johnson EHS standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure EHS compliance on site.
• Maintain detailed engineering records, design documentation, and as-built information.
• Prepare and present executive-level status updates, technical summaries, and risk briefings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management required.
• 10+ years of experience leading capital projects, preferably in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or similar).
• Demonstrated owner-side engineering leadership and experience working with A&E and Construction Management firms.
• Experience leading multi-discipline teams and collaborating with quality, EHS, operations, and external consultants.
• Proficiency with project management and engineering documentation tools.

• Master’s degree preferred.
