Global Process Safety Manager

Givaudan seeks a Senior Global Process Safety Manager in Vernier, Switzerland, to lead process safety policies, risk assessments, and training for its flavors and fragrances operations.

This position serves as the central Subject Matter Expert for process safety within the flavors and fragrances division. The role focuses on establishing robust management systems, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring strict compliance with corporate and legal standards across production sites and laboratories. The manager reports directly to the Global Process Safety Director.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the process safety management system for the flavors and fragrances business, ensuring adherence to all corporate and legal safety regulations.
  • Manage process safety data, key performance indicators, and dashboards to effectively communicate performance metrics.
  • Lead risk identification and assessment efforts by collaborating with operations and laboratory teams, conducting audits, and performing plant inspections.
  • Prioritize and execute action plans to mitigate identified process safety risks.
  • Design and deliver training programs to raise awareness and competency in process safety.
  • Support the professional development of EHS staff, engineers, operational personnel, and site leadership.
  • Provide expert guidance on chemical and compounding process hazards to operational teams.
  • Enhance risk analysis methodologies and technical guidelines to strengthen the process safety culture.
  • Govern the global process risk assessment site catalog and calibrate the risk portfolio.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects at various sites.
  • Manage relationships with external process safety consultants.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, or Organic Chemistry.
  • At least 8 years of experience in chemical process safety.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural and matrix environments.
  • Experience leading process safety in chemical production plants, laboratories, and R&D facilities.
  • Knowledge of control hazards in chemical and compounding processes, including plant design, equipment integrity, and facility operations.
  • Solid understanding of ATEX regulations and Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both the local language and English.
  • Excellent presentation skills for delivering training and elevating organizational knowledge.

Nice to have

  • Certification in Process Safety Management, such as CCPS or NEBOSH PSM.
