GEA Pharma Systems AG seeks a Senior Manager for Process & Project Engineering in Switzerland to lead the Project Management Team, oversee project execution, and mentor engineering staff.
This position acts as the lead for the Project Management Team, working closely with the Director of Engineering to handle daily operational tasks. The individual is responsible for guiding, coaching, and developing Project Managers and Engineers while maintaining direct accountability for specific assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Direct the Project Engineering team in executing the LPT North America project portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to guarantee that all projects meet budget, timeline, scope, and customer expectation standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and foster the professional growth of Project and Process Engineers.
- Cultivate a collaborative workplace culture that drives engagement, high performance, and staff retention.
- Manage resource planning and staffing forecasts to align with project workloads, schedules, and succession needs.
- Identify training gaps, support professional development, and conduct performance evaluations for team members.
- Approve team timesheets, paid time off requests, and expense reports.
- Provide hands-on project support to address execution challenges and meet specific project requirements.
- Oversee a portion of the project portfolio by tracking progress, coordinating activities, performing engineering reviews, and solving technical issues.
- Assist in project risk assessments and help develop mitigation strategies and response plans.
- Ensure strict adherence to GEA Project Management guidelines (PPP), Product Engineering Standards, and LPT Technology & Application Management requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all GEA policies, including Travel, Health, and Safety standards.
- Support LPT Technologies & Application Development initiatives focused on technical standardization and resolving engineering design and testing challenges.
- Enhance engineering efficiency by creating and implementing tools, processes, and standardized methods to minimize repetitive work.
- Promote consistent documentation and knowledge sharing across the Project Engineering team.
- Assist the Technical Offer Management team during pre-sales activities by reviewing engineering hours, historical cost data, and installation pricing.
- Provide engineering input for installation specifications, contractor coordination, and installation planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and project stakeholders.
- Address customer concerns regarding project performance and support claim resolution and negotiations within the scope of project engineering responsibilities.
