SKAN AG seeks an EHS Manager and Electrical Safety Officer in Allschwil to lead safety compliance, risk assessments, and electrical safety programs within a collaborative manufacturing environment.
This position serves as the central authority for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and electrical safety at SKAN AG. The incumbent partners with cross-functional teams to maintain compliant working conditions, supports daily operations through expert analysis, and drives safety initiatives across the organization. Ideally suited for a candidate with an electrical engineering background, the role entails taking full ownership of electrical safety protocols while ensuring broader regulatory adherence.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to staff and leadership on EHS regulations and best practices.
- Verify adherence to legal mandates, internal policies, and client-specific safety standards.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and hazardous events, performing root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments, including machine safety evaluations, in cooperation with various departments.
- Create and update safety frameworks for construction sites, chemical handling, work equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Evaluate and select appropriate PPE and work tools to ensure worker protection.
- Draft EHS policies, standard operating procedures, safety rules, and reporting documents.
- Design and deliver safety training sessions, including toolbox talks, classroom instruction, specialized hazard courses, and e-learning modules.
- Manage onboarding and safety orientations for new hires, temporary staff, and external contractors.
- Track employee training completion and verify qualification status.
- Schedule and oversee regular inspections and testing of safety-critical equipment.
- Perform site walkthroughs, EHS audits, and workplace inspections to identify compliance gaps.
- Establish, document, and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address safety issues.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive electrical safety program, including conducting expert interviews with relevant departments.
- Inspect and evaluate electrical systems, installations, and equipment for safety compliance.
Requirements
- Technical vocational training or university degree, preferably in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Certification as an Occupational Health & Safety Specialist/Professional, or a demonstrated willingness to obtain this qualification.
- At least five years of professional experience in industrial or manufacturing settings.
- Fluent proficiency in German and good command of English.
