HSE Manager 80 – 100% (f/m/d)

ABB Power Grids seeks an HSE Manager (80–100%) based in Zürich to lead health, safety, and sustainability functions for Swiss operations and specific sites.

This position holds complete responsibility for the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) function within PSC Switzerland. The role is instrumental in fostering a robust safety culture throughout the organization. Additionally, the manager acts as the Site Lead Manager for HSE at the Training Center in Rüti and the Service Logistic Center in Dietlikon.

Responsibilities

• Direct the HSE department and team for PSC Switzerland.
• Act as the Site Lead Manager for HSE at the Training Center in Rüti and the Service Logistic Center in Dietlikon.
• Uphold strict adherence to health and safety standards, guidelines, and management systems.
• Disseminate health and safety initiatives and procedures to ensure consistent understanding across the organization.
• Track compliance with safety requirements and address non-conformities using established protocols.
• Support management, supervisors, and staff in preventing workplace accidents.
• Serve as a liaison with contractors and clients when necessary.
• Establish and sustain the health and safety management system.
• Perform safety audits, investigate incidents to determine root causes, and oversee corrective measures.
• Advise on competency-based health and safety training programs.
• Lead HSE and Sustainability Reviews for the Rüti and Dietlikon locations.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years in a managerial capacity within an industrial setting, ideally in HSE, construction, or manufacturing.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities paired with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid grasp of health and safety dynamics at project or customer sites, including the role of safety systems in managing site risk profiles.
• Hands-on experience in developing and managing safety systems, with the ability to analyze site-specific details and resolve complex safety challenges.
• Familiarity with OSHA legislation for construction sites and prior work experience in safety-related roles.
• International experience, intercultural sensitivity, and a solutions-oriented mindset with strong engagement.
• Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

• Proficiency in German is considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
