Climeworks seeks a Senior HSE & Facility Manager to lead global HSSE strategy and oversee corporate facilities in Opfikon, Zurich.

This senior leadership position is central to Climeworks' expansion, combining enterprise risk ownership with hands-on operational execution. The role involves directing the global HSSE function to maintain a high-performing safety culture across production facilities, testing sites, and corporate environments, while also ensuring headquarters operations run safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and roll out global HSSE strategies, standards, and policies for all company locations.
  • Take ownership of safety programs across production, testing, construction, and corporate sites, driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with regulatory bodies globally to ensure compliance and foster collaborative ties with authorities.
  • Serve as the primary owner of safety performance metrics (e.g., LTIR/TRIR), providing executive reports and leading improvement initiatives.
  • Provide strategic, hands-on leadership for Facility Management at the Opfikon HQ and share best practices with other locations.
  • Act as the main contact for internal and external facility and site matters, working closely with subsidiaries and external partners.
  • Manage the financial and commercial aspects of HSE and facilities contracts to ensure cost efficiency and strong performance.
  • Ensure alignment between HSSE standards and corporate workplace execution.
  • Lead and coach HSSE and Facilities Management teams, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, safety, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of industry experience in HSSE leadership within industrial, energy, or process environments.
  • Strong expertise in corporate workplace safety, construction safety, and production safety, with a focus on health and well-being.
  • Familiarity with COHS standards and solid financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate strategy into effective operational execution.
  • Strong leadership skills to develop and grow teams, fostering collaboration and performance across diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across different levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and facility operations.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and decision-making capability, comfortable managing complexity and change.
  • Fluent in German and English, open to travel (approx. 10%), including site visits to Iceland and testing facilities.
