EHS Specialist

Abbott seeks a part-time EHS Specialist in Zurich to manage environmental, health, and safety compliance, emergency response, and safety audits for its heart failure site.

This position serves as the primary EHS contact for the Zurich facility, reporting to the Head of Operations while collaborating with a global team. The specialist is tasked with enforcing internal and external safety standards, managing regulatory compliance, and representing the site during audits and government inspections.

Responsibilities

• Track and report site-specific EHS metrics accurately and on schedule.
• Create and direct emergency response protocols for the facility.
• Implement and adapt global EHS training materials for local use.
• Maintain EHS documentation to ensure alignment with internal policies and Swiss legal requirements.
• Serve as the main liaison for all EHS inquiries at the Zurich location.
• Assist in maintaining Safety Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
• Conduct periodic safety audits and promote workplace safety culture.
• Perform duties associated with the role of Sicherheitsbeauftragter (SiBe) and Spezialisten der Arbeitssicherheit (ASA).
• Evaluate site programs and documents to ensure adherence to Abbott EHS standards.
• Collaborate effectively within a global EHS network.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science or Engineering.
• At least three years of experience in EHS management, preferably within a global American corporation.
• Ability to work independently in a matrix organization.
• Strong project management skills with a hands-on approach to execution.
• Superior communication abilities adaptable to various organizational levels.
• Analytical, structured, and rigorous working style.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
• Prior experience in the Med-Tech or pharmaceutical sectors.
• Proficiency in German, both written and spoken.
