Abbott seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer in Zurich to design and maintain test equipment for life-saving blood pump systems, ensuring production continuity and regulatory compliance.
This role sits within the Manufacturing Engineering – Equipment Engineering team at Abbott. The primary purpose is to collaborate with Maintenance Engineering and First Level Support to guarantee that test equipment remains available, compliant, and fully operational. The position supports the entire lifecycle of this equipment, from initial design through to validation and repair, directly contributing to the production of critical medical devices.
Responsibilities
- Design and build new electrical test equipment.
- Qualify electrical test equipment to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Validate equipment software, non-product software, and test methods.
- Manage equipment availability and oversee repair processes.
- Support all stages of the equipment lifecycle.
- Participate in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities related to equipment.
Requirements
- Degree or background in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience as an electrical engineer.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuit design.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment issues.
- Experience in debugging software.
- Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have
- Software development knowledge, particularly in C# and Python.
- Prior experience with OpenHTF.
- Familiarity with EIQ/EOQ and NPS validation processes.
- German language skills.
