Elan AG seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Rotkreuz to lead mechanical development for next-generation Blood Gas & Electrolytes Analyzers within an agile, cross-functional team.
This position sits within a collaborative engineering group dedicated to designing the future of Blood Gas & Electrolytes (BG/E) Analyzers. Based in Rotkreuz, the role allows for tailored responsibilities and involves leading mechanical development from initial concept through to maintenance, with a strong emphasis on manufacturability and complex functional consumables.
Responsibilities
- Manage deliverables in a matrix structure while coordinating with external partners.
- Oversee the full mechanical development lifecycle, prioritizing Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Architect and detail mechanical designs for high-volume injection-molded functional consumables.
- Plan, estimate, and execute work packages within a sprint-based Agile framework.
- Conduct rigorous engineering analyses, including FEA, FMEA, tolerance analysis, and physics-based simulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Lead comprehensive technical reviews with diverse stakeholders.
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree (FH/BSc/MSc) plus 6–8 years of industry experience.
- Deep expertise in injection molding design and plastic technologies.
- Proven track record in all phases of mechanical development with strong DFM knowledge.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing external suppliers.
- Proficiency in CAD design (SolidWorks preferred, integrated with SAP) compliant with ISO 8015/GPS.
- Professional-level English proficiency.

- Experience developing functional consumables for cost-optimized, large-scale series production.
- Background in complex medical systems within regulated environments.
- German listening and reading comprehension skills.
