Electronics Engineer

Elan AG seeks a mid-level Electronics Engineer in Zentralschweiz to lead PCB design, hardware integration, and compliance for laboratory instrumentation within a cross-functional R&D team.

This position places the engineer at the heart of a collaborative R&D group, driving concept development, detailed design, and feasibility assessments for laboratory instruments. The role centers on PCB design and hardware integration while ensuring adherence to safety, EMC standards, and product approval processes.

Responsibilities

• Create PCB schematics and support initial hardware bring-up.
• Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation to meet internal procedures and medical device regulations.
• Conduct integration testing and analyze issues alongside interdisciplinary colleagues.
• Convert technical specifications into reliable electronic designs that balance cost, reliability, standards, and serviceability.
• Define and integrate system interfaces within functional electronic architectures.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, test, and mechanical engineering groups to execute instrument integration tests.
• Lead technical reviews with R&D, Operations, and Customer Support stakeholders.
• Handle technical communication with external suppliers.

Requirements

• Minimum degree from a Fachhochschule or equivalent related field.
• At least three years of practical experience in PCB schematic design.
• Proficiency with PCB schematic design tools.
• Fluency in both English and German.
• Strong interpersonal abilities to thrive in a small, interdisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Five to ten years of experience in PCB schematics design and hardware bring-up.
• Background in firmware design.
• Familiarity with Siemens Xpedition.
• Experience with motor control applications and instrument workflows.
