Medical Device Engineer (Electronics & Firmware)

EPM Handels AG in Zürich seeks a mid-level Medical Device Engineer (Electronics & Firmware) for on-site work. The role focuses on implantable medical devices, requiring expertise in electronics, embedded systems, and firmware development within a regulated environment.

This position centers on the development and lifecycle management of implantable medical device systems, with a focus on electronics and firmware. The engineer will contribute to technical and regulatory aspects of product development, ensuring compliance and quality throughout the process.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert in electronics, embedded systems, and firmware development
• Oversee the full lifecycle of electronic components in implantable medical devices
• Assist with change management in coordination with Regulatory and Manufacturing teams
• Develop and maintain technical documentation compliant with quality management systems
• Support regulatory and quality initiatives from a technical standpoint
• Carry out verification testing and technical performance evaluations
• Investigate root causes of non-conformities and product returns
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on development projects

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Approximately 5+ years of R&D experience in a regulated industry, including 3+ years in medical devices
• Proven experience in analog and digital circuit design
• Practical experience using CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout
• Understanding of embedded systems and firmware development
• Fluency in English required

Nice to have

• Experience with low-power or battery-operated devices is beneficial
