3Brain seeks a Mid-level Electronics Engineer in Freienbach, CH, to design high-speed embedded systems and instrumentation for biomedical microchip interfaces.

The company is a Swiss deep tech firm developing semiconductor microchips that connect biological networks to computers. This role supports the R&D team by creating hardware that enables life scientists to study intelligent networks and accelerate biomedical research for patient benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded systems for high-speed data acquisition devices.
  • Handle system engineering tasks including schematic design, layout, testing, and verification.
  • Manage the product life cycle, focusing on automation, production testing, and optimization.
  • Architect high-speed embedded systems for products utilizing high-resolution microelectrode arrays.
  • Create low-level current and voltage instrumentation tools for Micro-electrode Arrays (MEA).
  • Design hardware sub-systems such as PCBs, high-speed ADCs, microcontrollers, FPGA-SoMs, and power supplies.
  • Perform bring-up, testing, measurement, characterization, and validation of electronic systems.
  • Develop production test tools.
  • Assemble, debug, and test demonstrators and prototype devices.
  • Prepare engineering, production, and QA documentation.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a multicultural, international team.
  • BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in hardware design.
  • Experience designing analog electronics and high-speed digital systems, including simulation, schematics, and HDI layout.
  • Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of EMC compliance and mechanical integration.
  • Hands-on industrial experience, such as prototype soldering, setting up test benches, and scaling to mass production.
  • Proficiency in prototyping, testing, bring-up, debugging, and production validation.
  • Background in basic signal processing concepts like sampling, filtering, and aliasing.
  • Fluent command of English.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Python.
  • Experience with microprocessor programming.
