Elan AG seeks a Senior Instrument Integration Engineer in Zug to oversee hardware-software integration across the full product lifecycle, ensuring optimal diagnostic instrument performance.
This position serves as the central technical hub for merging hardware and software elements, ensuring that modern diagnostic and analysis instruments function reliably from initial concept through to market release. The role is critical for the successful realization of these devices, acting as the primary expert for integration challenges and guiding the project through development, validation, and launch phases.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete integration of hardware and software systems throughout the instrument's lifecycle.
- Serve as the main technical liaison for internal and external stakeholders.
- Independently plan, execute, and document development tasks with minimal supervision.
- Apply advanced experimental planning techniques, such as Design of Experiments (DoE), to optimize workflows.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting efforts and conduct root cause analyses for complex issues.
- Provide high-autonomy technical solutions for difficult integration challenges.
- Help define product concepts, system requirements, and overall architecture.
- Analyze test data using statistical methods to identify trends and correlations.
- Generate reports based on data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for integration matters.
- Mentor and guide team members on technical best practices.
- Represent the project in R&D meetings with internal and external partners.
- Drive innovation initiatives, including the creation of intellectual property.
- Support the ongoing improvement of quality management and integration processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Swiss Federal Diploma in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering) or equivalent professional experience.
- At least five years of experience in medical device development.
- Solid grasp of Systems Engineering principles as applied to instrument development.
- Demonstrated ability to perform data analysis and apply statistical methods effectively.
- Fluent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong autonomy, proactive problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset for cross-functional teamwork.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in the German language.
