Development Engineer

Elan AG seeks a Development Engineer in Zentralschweiz to design and optimize IVD systems for near-patient testing. The role involves prototyping, fluid control workflows, and system integration within a hybrid work model.

This position sits within the R&D Near Patient Care System Development & Integration team at Elan AG. The primary focus is on designing ready-to-use in vitro diagnostic (IVD) systems for near-patient testing and contributing to the creation and refinement of new instrument prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine fluid control workflows for new analyzer models.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges related to blood and calibration fluid management, suggesting design enhancements.
• Build data analysis tools to evaluate system performance metrics.
• Plan and execute experiments to test specific system capabilities.
• Implement and validate prototype analyzers in blood laboratory settings.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanics, Fluidics).
• At least three years of industry or research experience, or demonstrated expertise in blood gas analyzer workflow development.
• Strong ability to understand complex system interactions.
• Proficiency in Python for programming and complex data analysis.
• Background in systems engineering.
• Skill in producing structured documentation and written investigation reports.
• Determination to identify root causes of technical issues and collaborate with engineers and scientists to resolve them.
• Self-sufficiency and strong networking skills to secure support for projects.
• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
