Development Engineer (contract 80-100%)

The company seeks a Development Engineer to design and automate laboratory robotics and diagnostic systems in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. The role focuses on programming, testing, and supporting robotic solutions within a cross-functional R&D environment.

This position sits within the System Development department of Research & Development, where the primary goal is to optimize workflows and integrate hardware, software, consumables, and reagents for diagnostic instrument verification. The role requires collaboration in a cross-functional team to automate, maintain, and further develop complex diagnostic systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotics concepts for laboratory environments, moving toward fully automated 'dark lab' operations.
• Write code, test, and maintain automated solutions for existing and new laboratory systems.
• Assist Integration Teams with the installation and troubleshooting of robotic solutions in the lab.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute work packages, including reporting issues and escalating topics to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, robotics, vision, electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering (or equivalent).
• Proficiency in software development using languages such as UR-Polyscope, Python, C#/NET, or LabView.
• Excellent spoken and written English skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the German language.
