Roche seeks a mid-level Software Tester for RMD System Development in Rotkreuz, CH. The role focuses on testing diagnostics systems, ensuring hardware and software integration, and managing regulatory documentation.
This position sits within the System Development department, which drives workflow optimization and the successful integration of hardware, software, consumables, and reagents for diagnostics instruments. The tester joins a cross-functional team building complex diagnostics systems that combine fluidics, robotics, thermal, electrical, mechanical, and biochemistry components.
Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out work packages, reporting progress and escalating issues to management.
- Establish an automated testing environment and utilize data analysis tools to generate statistical reports for leadership.
- Act as a subject matter expert on communication protocols between instruments and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), offering guidance to colleagues.
- Design and run lab experiments, develop test cases from product requirements, execute tests, analyze outcomes, and draft regulatory documents.
- Monitor issues, verify bug fixes, and address anomalies.
- Produce necessary documentation, procedures, and technical reports, including authoring official English documents for milestone preparation.
- Prepare and present project results to internal teams or other groups.
- Coordinate with other functional areas, including Hardware, Software, Consumables, Assay, and Algorithm Development, to complete tasks.
Requirements
- A degree in a technical or life sciences field (e.g., Software/Electrical Engineering, Electronic/Automation, Bio- and Process-Engineering) or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of experience in diagnostic system development within System Development or a related area.
- Ability to work independently on cross-departmental development tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and German.
- Strong analytical and interdisciplinary thinking abilities.
- Experience in statistical data analysis.
- Experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and labs with biosafety levels S1 and S2.
