The company seeks a Development Engineer for a contract role in Rotkreuz, CH. The position focuses on workflow optimization and system verification for diagnostics instruments, including nucleic acid purification, PCR, and sequencing.
Within the System Development department, this role supports workflow optimization and the integration of hardware, software, consumables, and reagents. The engineer will focus on system verification for diagnostics instruments, specifically working on nucleic acid purification, PCR, and sequencing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned work packages, including reporting progress and escalating issues to leadership.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for a specific area, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
- Create necessary documentation, procedures, and technical reports.
- Prepare and present project outcomes to the team and management.
- Design and conduct experiments in biosafety level 1 and 2 laboratories.
- Develop test cases from product requirements, execute them, analyze results, and generate regulatory documents. Track issues and verify bug fixes.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems, documenting and maintaining software functionality.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, consumables, and assay development teams to complete tasks.
Requirements
- Degree in a life science field (e.g., biology, biotechnology, biomedical informatics, or engineering) or equivalent experience.
- Experience and willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and labs with biosafety levels S1 and S2.
- Working knowledge of English (written and spoken)
Nice to have
- Interest in resolving technical problems and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Familiarity with or strong interest in software and engineering applications and tools
- Enthusiastic team player with good communication and collaboration skills. Solution-oriented, autonomous, and proactive working style.
- Proven experience in laboratory diagnostics and/or service & support, as well as supporting HW and SW, are additional assets.
