A senior mechanical engineering position focused on MedTech product development, requiring expertise in injection molding and plastic technologies within an agile, matrix-organized environment.

This position is based within one of the most prestigious pharmaceutical companies, where the incumbent operates in a matrix-organized project structure. The engineer takes full accountability for deliverables, leading mechanical development efforts from initial concept through to maintenance while collaborating with external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of mechanical development, from early concepts to ongoing maintenance.
  • Lead the architectural and detailed design of complex functional consumables.
  • Optimize designs specifically for high-volume injection molding and advanced plastic manufacturing techniques.
  • Conduct rigorous engineering analyses, including FEA, FMEA, tolerance analysis, and physics-based simulations.
  • Collaborate with external development partners and suppliers while managing core internal work packages.
  • Plan, estimate, and execute work packages within a sprint-based Agile framework.
  • Lead comprehensive technical reviews involving diverse stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (FH, BSc, or MSc).
  • 6–8 years of hands-on industry experience in mechanical development.
  • Deep expertise in injection molding design and plastic technologies.
  • Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) across all development phases.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, preferably SolidWorks, integrated with SAP.
  • Adherence to ISO 8015 / Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) for 2D drawings and 3D models.
  • Professional-level English proficiency is mandatory as the project language.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing functional consumables for cost-optimized, large-scale series production.
  • Background in creating complex medical systems with integrated components like pumps, valves, sensors, and temperature controls in regulated environments.
  • Listening and reading comprehension in German is a distinct advantage.
