Kanadeviainova seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Zürich to lead waste handling engineering, supplier coordination, and project execution for waste-to-resource technologies.

This role drives the engineering and delivery of complex waste handling systems, ensuring technical excellence and seamless project execution across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage cost, quality, and schedule for waste handling work packages under the Equipment & Packages Engineering Manager.
- Oversee concept and basic engineering phases, including internal and external interface management.
- Draft technical specifications for procurement packages covering waste reception, storage, feeding systems, and various cranes.
- Evaluate supplier offers, select vendors, and issue purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Monitor supplier progress during detailed engineering, handling documentation control, inspections, and factory acceptance tests.
- Collaborate with procurement, planning, civil, electrical, and process teams to ensure alignment.
- Resolve cross-disciplinary and cross-lot interface issues.
- Provide installation and commissioning support, troubleshoot technical issues during project execution and operation, and facilitate knowledge transfer through standardization and lessons learned.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of waste handling systems and related processes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a technical university.
- At least seven years of experience in industrial plant engineering.
- Proven track record in supplier management, procurement of complex systems, and working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience in project execution, supplier coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with crane systems, including waste cranes, bottom ash cranes, bulk material handling, and grab cranes.
- Background in energy from waste, power generation, or heavy industry.
- Working knowledge of German.
