Senior Mechanical Engineer - Medical devices

Coopers Group AG seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Rotkreuz to lead mechanical development for medical devices, focusing on DFM and injection molding within an agile, on-site team.

This position requires taking ownership of project deliverables within a matrix-structured environment. The primary objective is to manage the complete mechanical development lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Manage core work packages while coordinating with external suppliers and development partners.
• Oversee every stage of mechanical development, from initial concept through design reviews, testing, and ongoing maintenance.
• Perform architectural and detailed mechanical design for complex functional consumables intended for high-volume injection molding.
• Plan, estimate, and execute work packages using sprint-based Agile methodologies.
• Conduct rigorous engineering analyses, including FEA, FMEA, tolerance analysis, and physics-based simulations.
• Offer technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
• Lead comprehensive technical reviews involving stakeholders from R&D, Operations, and Customer Support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (FH, BSc, or MSc).
• Six to eight years of hands-on industry experience.
• Strong, long-term expertise in injection molding design and plastic technologies.
• Extensive experience leading mechanical development phases with deep knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage external partners.
• Proficiency in CAD design, preferably SolidWorks, integrated with SAP.
• Strict adherence to ISO 8015 and Geometrical Product Specifications (GPS) for 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Professional-level English proficiency is mandatory.

Nice to have

• Experience developing functional consumables for cost-optimized, large-scale series production.
• Background in creating complex medical systems with integrated components like pumps, valves, sensors, and temperature controls in regulated settings.
• Ability to listen and read German is a significant advantage.
