ABB Power Grids seeks a Senior R&D Engineer in Zurich to lead high-voltage product development and eco-gas innovation within an international technical team.
This position is based in the GIS Development team at the High Voltage Products Business Unit in Zurich-Oerlikon. The role focuses on strengthening technical expertise while taking ownership of complex engineering challenges for next-generation gas-insulated switchgear technologies. The successful candidate will drive product reliability and collaborate with global partners to deliver innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Execute research and development tasks for high-voltage product lines
- Assist in creating new eco-friendly gas solutions
- Conduct technical investigations and identify root causes of issues
- Lead initiatives aimed at improving product reliability and performance
- Organize, support, and assess testing and validation processes
- Work closely with international laboratories and external vendors
- Offer technical assistance for current products and their applications
- Disseminate knowledge and promote technical excellence across departments
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- At least five years of professional experience in engineering or R&D roles
- Deep technical knowledge in electrical engineering
- Prior experience in industrial product development settings
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent communication abilities with fluent English proficiency
