ABB seeks a Senior R&D Project Manager in Schaffhausen to lead product and system development projects within the Critical Power team, requiring strong engineering and project management expertise.
This position is based at the Technology Center in Schaffhausen and reports directly to the R&D Manager for Critical Power. The role focuses on designing and developing products, systems, and technologies by managing one or more research and development initiatives within an international team environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct project planning and organization, including task assignment and team motivation using established project management frameworks.
- Track project milestones, control costs, and handle changes or claims according to internal procedures.
- Identify potential risks, oversee prototyping efforts, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
- Maintain clear communication channels with cross-functional teams, internal departments, customers, and external partners.
- Generate detailed project reports and monitor the financial health of assigned projects.
- Coordinate activities between local and cross-functional teams, collaborating with local managers, steering committees, product management, and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of project management experience, supplemented by a background as a development engineer.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies with a history of successful project delivery.
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English.
- Deep technical knowledge regarding low-voltage product development, including mechanical and electrical systems, product design, and assembly processes.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
Nice to have
- Prior experience using CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
