Voith Group Switzerland seeks a Senior Engineering Quality Manager to lead FMEA and technical risk management for global hydroelectric projects, ensuring safety and reliability.
This position serves as the central authority for engineering quality within the hydroelectric division, overseeing the entire lifecycle from concept to execution. The role demands a blend of strategic oversight and deep technical expertise to guarantee that turbines, generators, and associated systems adhere to rigorous standards for safety, reliability, and sustainability across international markets.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead the creation, rollout, and refinement of technical risk management frameworks, with a specific focus on DFMEA, SFMEA, and PFMEA throughout all project stages.
- Champion the adoption of digital tools for risk management to improve data transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency.
- Lead and moderate cross-functional FMEA workshops to pinpoint, evaluate, and address potential failure modes.
- Maintain rigorous documentation of risk traceability, ensuring all identified actions are closed and risk controls remain effective.
- Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Proposal departments to embed risk management outcomes into design, validation, production, and bidding processes.
- Analyze customer specifications and legal mandates to ensure all risk management activities comply with relevant standards and regulatory obligations.
- Perform technical risk assessments and process audits to validate the effectiveness of mitigation measures and adherence to quality protocols.
- Provide training and coaching to diverse teams on FMEA methodologies, root cause analysis, risk prioritization, and preventive action planning.
- Track and report key risk indicators, FMEA status, and progress in risk reduction to executive leadership.
- Serve as the main point of contact for technical risk management discussions with authorities, certification bodies, and clients.
- Assist in developing and standardizing risk management tools, templates, and best practices for the regional engineering organization.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts by leveraging lessons learned from FMEA outcomes, field feedback, and quality data analysis.
- Cultivate a culture of learning within Engineering by capturing, analyzing, and disseminating best practices and lessons learned.
- Ensure that technical safety, regulatory, and normative requirements are systematically addressed through robust risk management and FMEA processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
- Seven to ten years of professional experience in engineering quality or technical risk management.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading FMEA activities (DFMEA, SFMEA, PFMEA), conducting technical risk assessments, and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency with digital risk management tools, data analytics, and digital collaboration platforms.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001, risk management frameworks, root cause analysis, and quality planning.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
- Willingness to travel internationally for project support and collaboration.

- Advanced training or certification in FMEA, risk management, or quality assurance (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma).
- Proficiency in additional languages beyond English.
