Engineering Specialist

Nestlé seeks an Engineering Specialist in Konolfingen to support pilot plant operations and investment projects within its R&D Center, focusing on new product and process development.

This position sits within the local Site-Engineering team at the Nestlé Research and Development Center in Konolfingen. The role is dedicated to supporting daily pilot plant activities and managing local investment initiatives. The Konolfinger center is responsible for creating new products, processes, and packaging concepts for Nestlé’s global Milk, plant-based, and Nutrition divisions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-level feasibility assessments for novel process and product concepts.
• Develop detailed project plans to secure budget approvals, coordinating with internal and external partners.
• Safely lead and execute on-site projects, working with team members and operational units to ensure successful commissioning, start-up, and documented handover.
• Provide technical support to technicians and operators for troubleshooting and complex root cause analysis.
• Enhance the efficiency of pilot plant and production assets through rigorous data analysis and process expertise.
• Drive sustainable initiatives to achieve net zero targets by challenging existing practices and implementing improvements.
• Assist in exploring, developing, qualifying, and industrializing new technologies and products.

Requirements

• University degree in engineering, with a preference for process or mechanical engineering backgrounds.
• Strong ability to network and communicate effectively across teams.
• End-to-end mindset with clear scope definition and commitment to proper documentation during handover.
• Robust problem-solving abilities, applied collaboratively within a larger team and in field settings.
• Full dedication to compliance standards, including legal, safety, quality, and financial regulations.
• Desire to build specialized expertise in specific areas to serve as a local subject matter expert.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in process engineering or the food industry, particularly regarding hygienic standards.
• Proficiency in German is considered an advantage.
