CERN seeks an Experienced Industrial Electrical Technician for its Maintenance and Operation section in Geneva. The role focuses on managing the electrical distribution network through maintenance, troubleshooting, and project support.
This position sits within the Electrical Engineering group, specifically the Maintenance and Operation section. The primary purpose is to support the operation, maintenance, consolidation, and development of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage the high- and low-voltage network, including performing lockouts, switching operations, and reconfigurations.
- Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and document all interventions, while contributing to or leading technical reports.
- Execute regular inspections to guarantee the reliability and safety of the electrical infrastructure.
- Serve as the main point of contact for users connected to the electrical network in the assigned area.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, as well as general electrical works.
- Participate in electrical projects by attending meetings, defining technical solutions, and carrying out tests and commissioning activities.
- Keep precise records of all maintenance and operational activities.
Requirements
- A technical certificate, general secondary education, or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of high- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems and their associated equipment.
- Proven experience in operating and maintaining electrical installations, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, repairs, and commissioning.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with users, contractors, and technical specialists.
- Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Proficiency in reading, updating, and managing electrical drawings, technical documentation, and as-built records.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- A valid driving licence.
- Medical clearance due to occupational health risks.
