ABB Power Grids seeks a Field Service Engineer in Zürich to lead global GIS installations and manage multicultural construction sites for high-voltage switchgear.
This role focuses on providing worldwide after-sales support for generator circuit-breaker systems and gas insulated switchgears. The position involves leading new installations, conducting training, and ensuring successful project execution in a technically challenging, multicultural setting.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multicultural construction sites globally for gas insulated switchgear operating at 110KV to 550KV.
- Ensure on-site installation, maintenance, and repair tasks meet contractual deadlines and adhere to local legal standards.
- Maintain work quality through on-site quality control and by assessing the skills of local support staff.
- Coordinate local labor forces and manage resource costs while providing regular updates to project management.
- Drive process improvements and implement measures to boost the efficiency of on-site activities.
- Optionally conduct on-site product training during installation phases.
Requirements
- Completed apprenticeship in metal construction, electrical, or automotive industries, or a comparable field.
- Strong foundational knowledge in electrical engineering, with further training in this area being beneficial.
- Proficiency in German at a very good level and good English skills, meeting at least B2 standards.
- Readiness for national and international assignments, including up to 90% travel time.

- Prior work experience in assembly and commissioning processes.
- Additional training or education in electrical engineering.
