Field Service Engineer

ABB seeks a Field Service Engineer in Turgi, CH, for a mid-level, full-time hybrid role. The position involves on-site and remote technical support, equipment maintenance, and customer consulting, with approximately 80 days of travel annually. Candidates must have electrical experience, power electronics knowledge, and fluency in German, French, and English.

This role reports to the Head of Field Service and focuses on delivering technical support and maintenance services to customers. It includes both on-site and remote activities, with a significant travel component to provide hands-on assistance at customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service tasks including installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of equipment, using both remote and on-site methods across various service categories.
• Advise customers on optimal service solutions following standard procedures and safety guidelines.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by understanding their needs and offering expert support.
• Plan and manage specialist projects, ensuring milestones are met and progress is regularly reviewed.
• Diagnose and resolve simple equipment failures, and suggest preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Spot opportunities to innovate and expand service offerings, including new applications, equipment, and methods.

Requirements

• Four years of experience in electrical work, testing, maintenance, or service, preferably as a test or commissioning engineer in power electronics or electric vehicles.
• Practical experience in servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and repairing power electronic products.
• Willingness and ability to travel globally, including domestic and international assignments.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, a collaborative mindset, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrotechnics or a related technical field.
• Fluency in German, French, and English is required.
