CERN seeks a Fleet Manager to oversee powered industrial trucks in Geneva. The role involves managing maintenance contracts, supervising on-site activities, and ensuring fleet reliability within the Engineering Department.

Within the Engineering Department, the Transport and Handling Engineering Group coordinates all transport and handling operations for CERN’s accelerators and experiments. The Handling Equipment Maintenance Section is tasked with managing and maintaining industrial transport and lifting equipment to guarantee reliable performance throughout their lifecycle. This position supports these goals by ensuring the fleet remains available, compliant, and efficiently maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the equipment fleet, including maintenance contracts and resource planning, to guarantee availability and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise contractor activities on-site, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and technical standards.
  • Keep technical documentation current, including specifications, drawings, equipment records, and configuration data.
  • Refine maintenance strategies and track fleet performance using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) tools to drive continuous improvement.
  • Handle procurement tasks within existing supply and maintenance agreements, ensuring orders align with technical specifications.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Mechanics, Electromechanics, or a related discipline.
  • Solid background in maintaining and commissioning both standard and customised industrial trucks.
  • Proven track record in managing contracts and supervising on-site maintenance for industrial trucks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems.
  • Fluent spoken and written English skills.
  • Willingness and commitment to learn French.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electrical and control systems.
  • Knowledge of control systems.
  • Involvement in preparing specifications, procurement, commissioning, and maintenance of special transport vehicles for underground use.
  • Participation in defining technical requirements and designing or developing industrial and customised vehicles.
