General Manager Global Sales

WinGD seeks a Senior General Manager for Global Sales in Winterthur to lead sales strategy for 2-stroke engines in the merchant shipping sector.

This senior position is responsible for directing worldwide sales and promotional efforts, with a specific emphasis on the merchant shipping market and 2-stroke engine technologies. The role aims to drive growth while supporting WinGD’s mission to advance sustainability within the shipping industry.

Responsibilities

• Direct global sales and promotional initiatives, managing the sales team to meet targets for volume, market share, and order margins.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including shipyards and vessel owners, ensuring high satisfaction throughout the product lifecycle.
• Act as a brand representative at industry events and conferences to enhance market visibility and establish strategic alliances.
• Collaborate with internal business units and local offices to provide comprehensive customer support during warranty and operational phases.
• Manage CRM systems and generate business intelligence reports to inform strategic decisions and provide market insights.
• Coordinate with the Marketing & Communication team to plan and execute regional sales and marketing campaigns.
• Translate customer needs and market trends into actionable feedback for Product Management, while overseeing product portfolio strategies.

Requirements

• MSc. in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture, or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience within the merchant shipping sector.
• Deep understanding of 2-stroke engine applications and related technologies.
• Strong capabilities in customer relationship management and team leadership.
• Excellent skills in commercial negotiation and professional representation.
• Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience working effectively within multi-cultural teams and with international customers.
• A problem-solving mindset with a forward-thinking approach.
• Willingness to travel extensively for business purposes.
• Fluent command of the English language.
