Johnson & Johnson is hiring 2 Global Epidemiology Interns in Allschwil, Switzerland, for a 3-4 month full-time hybrid internship starting in Summer/Autumn 2027. The role involves literature review, real-world data analysis, and supporting regulatory documentation in drug development.

Johnson & Johnson is seeking epidemiology interns to support its mission of advancing human health through healthcare innovation. The internship is part of the company’s Career Programs and will be based at the Basel Campus in Allschwil, Switzerland, with a start date in September or October 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct literature reviews on cancer tumor types, using structured methods and AI-based tools.
  • Support the development of epidemiology sections in regulatory documents for drug development.
  • Identify and evaluate real-world data (RWD) sources, both internal and external, for suitability.
  • Assess and analyze secondary RWD from sources including European RWD networks, US health insurance claims, electronic health records, and cancer registries.
  • Define patient phenotypes and cohorts, collaborating with analysts using standardized in-house tools for federated RWD analysis.
  • Assist in creating AI-powered tools for searching and managing real-world data repositories.
  • Collaborate with epidemiologists and analysts to interpret and contextualize findings.
  • Participate in departmental events such as webinars, team meetings, and networking activities.

Requirements

  • A Master’s or PhD degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
  • A valid Switzerland working permit, required to remain active until February 2027.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience analyzing secondary real-world data.
  • Solid understanding of epidemiology study designs and analytical techniques.
  • Experience using AI tools in research or data analysis.
  • Strong interest in oncology, immunology, or neuroscience research.
  • Interest in pharmaceutical research and development.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking abilities.
  • Strong presentation skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
